Karen Barnes HBSc, DVM, CCRT, CERP graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 1989 and has been practicing small animal medicine and surgery in North Bay since 1992. Her areas of interest include soft tissue surgery, small animal medicine, canine rehabilitation and equine rehabilitation & performance enhancement.  Dr. Barnes is a past president of the Northern Ontario Veterinary Association and director at the Ontario Veterinary Medical Association.  In her spare time, she trains and shows her dressage horses, Hadley and Valentino.

Dr. Sherri Rea has been practicing small animal medicine and surgery in North Bay since graduating from the Ontario Veterinary College in 1988.  She loves being a veterinarian in general practice and especially enjoys the unravelling of a mystery that comes from Internal Medicine cases and Diagnostics.  She has been keenly active in two professional organizations. Since 2003 Sherri has been the steadfast secretary-treasurer of the Northern Ontario Veterinary Association –a group she holds dear to her heart.  She is also one of the founding directors of the Farley Foundation, a charity that funds veterinary care for people in need.  Her home-life balance keeps her energy levels high juggling her three children, dog, and one fluffy cat!  Outside the home she maintains her fitness with laps in the pool, cycling and of course walking her pooch!

Dr. Karl Seidler received his veterinary degree from the Royal Veterinary College in London, England in 2003.He also has a B.Sc. from the University of Guelph. His career started in mixed animal practice in Saskatchewan and Manitoba before focusing on small animal work in Ottawa for seven years.  He moved back to his home town of North Bay and has spent the past eight years working in Callander.  He now brings his 20 years of veterinary experience to the North Bay Animal Hospital.  He shares his life with his wife, three daughters, two dogs and during his free time, he enjoys skiing, camping, and fishing whenever possible.

Lori-Ann Busch started working for North Bay Animal Hospital as a Registered Veterinary Technician after graduating from Ridgetown College in May of 2003.   After 10 years practicing as an RVT she moved into an office administrator position and then Hospital Manager in 2021.   Lori-Ann is valued for her compassion and hardworking attitude. She loves spending time with her husband, two daughters and pets. In her spare time she enjoys gardening, baking, boating and training her dog Mac!

Tracy Powers is the head technician here at the North Bay Animal Hospital.  After graduating from Northern College in 2004 she became part of our team.  Tracy is a hard working member and plays a very important role here at the hospital – she helps keep the hospital running smoothly by training new technical staff, inventory control and equipment maintenance.  Her technical duties include assisting in surgery, running the in-house diagnostic lab, radiography, and patient care.  Tracy keeps active by playing baseball and volleyball.  When she is not working she is listening to music and enjoying a good book.  She is very close to her family – which includes her 4 cats!

Laura Chorney has been working at the North Bay Animal Hospital since she graduated as an RVT in 2008. In 2014 she returned to school and graduated as a RPN. She has a passion for horses and animals and loves being a patient advocate and communicating with clients. When not at work you will find Laura spending time on her 30 acre farm with her husband Jeff, their shared children and their many animals. Laura shares her house with 1 cat and 3 dogs!  The rest of the crew live in the barn.

After a career path change, Kaelyn Pizzale decided to pursue a career in vet medicine.  She is one of our vet assistants and will be working towards getting her vet tech schooling over the next few years.  Kaelyn has always loved being around animals and spending time outside.  When not at work you will find her in the trails with her two pups, River and Jozie.

Missy Roy

Head Receptionist

Born in Timmins, Missy moved to North Bay in 2016 with her now-husband, Eric. Missy joined the clinic in January 2018. She loves taking care of the clients and their pets! She and Eric enjoy their new hobby farm where they care for their two horses, Marley and Misty, and their two dogs, Jack and Bijou. When she’s not busy doing barn chores she enjoys riding her horses, exercising, and cooking.

Bridgit Morehouse

Being an avid animal lover her whole life, Bridgit joined the North Bay Animal Hospital team with excitement and a desire for learning the animal industry. 

Originally from Bowmanville Ontario, Bridgit moved to North Bay after spending a year in Halifax Nova Scotia working in a dental lab and exploring the east coast with her fiancé. Bridgit has a passion for the outdoors and spends as much time as possible doing outdoor activities such as camping, hiking, and exploring new places.

Shawnna Hampson joined our team in September 2021.  She’s travelled around Canada and met her Czech husband while living in Jasper, Alberta.  She is happy and grateful her adventures brought her to North Bay!  In her spare time she likes painting, knitting, eating (“the more carbs the better”) and exploring the great outdoors.  Her and her husband share their home with 2 rescue cats, Misha & Romonka.

Laura Farris is the newest member of the NBAH team!  She grew up in North Bay and enjoys the seasons, lakes and the many outdoor activities North Bay has to offer.  After studying music, majoring in flute, at McMaster University Laura ventured to Korea and China to be an English teacher.  She spent a couple of years abroad before returning to her home town to start her family.  She has 2 beautiful daughters and 3 adorable dogs.  Laura has always loved animals!  When not at work she likes gardening, swimming, skating, hiking and spending time at the family cottage.

Adria Lingley is happiest when she is head-to-toe covered in pet hair and slobber.  Her pet obsession started with a golden retriever names Fergus that never left her side.  Her experience in pet physical therapy, grooming and obedience led her to pursue a career in the veterinary office management at Mohawk college.  At home her social life revolves around her 5 dogs and a cat.  Her self-proclaimed superpower is being able to spot a golden retriever a mile away.  She looks forward to her future at NBAH.

Brooklyn Norton  After spending a few years in British Columbia, Brooklyn moved back to Ontario to attend school.  She graduated from Northern College in 2021 as a Veterinary Assistant, then moved back home to North Bay.  She has always had a huge passion for helping animals and making sure they feel safe.  When not at work you can find her spending time with her family and friends.  In her spare time, Brooklyn enjoys canoeing and kayaking with her dog Mowgli.
